More than just a Game 7

It doesn’t get any better than this: Game 7, Winner takes all, Bragging RIGHTS, Green or Gold, Who’s your pick?! Will Kobe Bryant get his 5th ring and establish him self as the greatest ever in the game or will he still remain in Michael Jordan’s shadow? Will the Big 3 still be playing together after this year or will Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen retire while on top if they win? The only thing we will know for sure after tonight is who will host the trophy as the 2010 NBA Champion.
Despite the devastating loss of Kendrick Perkins, the Boston Celtics should have nothing to fear. Besides Game 6, the Celtics have played mediocre throughout this series and still were close to winning each game. The Los Angeles Lakers put the dagger in them in Game 6, but other than this game, the Lakers’ wins haven’t been convincing. Candidly, I think that neither team has reached their full potential this series, especially Boston. The Lakers played a flawless game in Game 6 and the score showed this, but I would like to see one game when both teams are both at their best. This series has been a joy to watch, but I expected so much more. Many thought maybe this historic rivalry could be renewed, guess we were wrong.
I understand that some of the Boston players are old, but I’ve seen them play much better through these playoffs. Maybe they sabotaged this whole series to win in Game 7 in L.A. on purpose? Maybe, lol? Whichever describes their funk, they need to play like they did against Cleveland and Orlando. Then maybe, they can be successful in obtaining a championship.
As for Kobe and the Lakers, his teammates need to play like Game 6. Kobe has made tough shots every game and won’t stop; he eats, breathes, and sleeps this type of pressure. He accepts all challenges thrown at him and oooo, does he answer! Regardless of Kobe’s performance tonight, Gasol, Odom, Artest, Fisher, and the rest of the team will be key. Kobe can’t do it by himself, he needs players not spectators.
Tip off begins in a couple of hours and I don’t know who’s going to show up. Maybe Rondo will actually shoot some jump shots and lead Bean town to a win. Maybe Kobe will put up 50 and put the team on his back. I guess we’ll have to wait until 9. Big Stage, Big Lights, Millions watching, but there can only be 1 Champion!

  1. I think Game 6 proved what the Lakers are capable of when all cylinders are firing on their team. Let's be real. Game 7 at the Staples Center for all the marbles. Perkins is gone and while some may think the Celtics can bounce back from this withowt a cinc, I think it is going to be a little tougher than that. Perkin's has the type of production that doesn't show up on the stat line but is invaluable nonetheless. As one of the best low post defenders in the league he was a strong body that could properly defend Bynum. Now he's gone which means Glen Davis, or now possibly Brian Scalabrine (based on what Rivers has said) will have to defend Bynum. Big no-no. The Lakers will crash the boards all day if that's the case and you will see another game 6 or even game 1 type Lakers performance. Rondo has damn near disappeared thorughowt this series, but with no mid range game, it's not hard to see why. He shooting jumpshots; just not making them. I also tell people that this isnt 2008 where Radmanovic was defending Pierce, but instead, you have the Queensbridge bruiser Artest defending him effectively enough this series.

My final prediction: Lakers beat Celtics as it comes down to the wire.

  2. Great point about Game 6 and Radmanovic (Where does he even play lol, I think Golden State). Ya everyone knows how great a post defender Perkins is and it's a tough loss as he was a pest to Gasol who doesn't like contact. With that being said, I think Rasheed will have a big game tonight. He has so much potential, but never really reached it for other reasons (techincal fouls). Scalabrine will not see a minute of the floor lol, I would put Sheldon Williams in before him and that's bad enough. As for Rondo, he needs to just dedicate the whole off season in jump shooting! He needs to have more confidence, 15 foot jump shot should be automatic especially for a point guard.

Thanks for commenting though sands, appreciate it! Follow it if you can as well.
