Best Free Agency Pool?

With so many superstar free agents on the market, it’s frightening to think how talented some NBA teams will be next year. The scouting reports for opposing teams will be a nightmare once this 2010 Free agency period is done. The thought that one team could have the trio of Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh is mind-boggling. These three superstars may be the biggest names out of the pool, but there are many other all-stars out there that range from Dirk Nowitzki to Carlos Boozer.
King James may be the best free agent, but he knows from 1st hand experience that he can’t do it alone. Whichever team he decides to play for, he will need role players and a dominant #2 player unlike Mo Williams in Cleveland. Money should be the least of Lebron’s worries as he needs to win a ring if he wants to take the throne from Kobe and solidify his career. Lebron hasn't even reached his peak yet which is spine-chilling, but in order to be a king you need a RING.
A new story will come out everyday that will claim that a superstar is leaning towards one team or another, but we will not now where these NBA icons will go until they sign on the dotted line. Verbal confirmation to a team is meaningless as these players are meeting with several different teams a week that are explaining why they’re city is the best choice.
Negotiations with NBA free agents start Thursday, July 1, 2010 and actual signings can begin a week later.

Bulgarian stuns Williams

Just when tennis fans were anticipating a prospective Wimbledon finals match with the Williams’ sisters, the script was flipped. Venus Williams took a surprising loss in straight sets (6-2, 6-3) this afternoon to the unseeded, Tsventana Pironkova. Williams’ loss to the 82nd ranked player ended her hopes of winning a landmark 200th major game and 6th Wimbledon title. Pironkova’s win not only helped her advance to the next round vs. Vera Zvonareva, but made her the 1st Bulgarian to reach the semifinal in Open Era.

Win and your in

Tune into ESPN and watch the U.S. take on Algeria. It's simple, win and your in! There is still a chance for the U.S. to advance to the next round with a draw, but I'm pretty sure our country would prefer a victory.

2010 NBA Draft

Reminder to tune in to ESPN on Thursday June 24th 7 p.m. for the 2010 NBA Draft.

Smith breaks arm again

In recent reports, Steve Smith of the Carolina Panthers broke his arm during a flag football game. Smith is expected to be ready to suit up for the season opener against the New York Giants, but this is still a devastating blow to the Panthers.
This is now the second time in six months that Smith has broken his left arm. Being a top wide receiver in the league and one of the main scoring options for the Panthers, Smith needs to be healthy for the team to win. Smith’s injury may not just affect his performance on the gridiron, but the quarterback’s as well. With an inexperienced quarterback in Matt Moore and recently drafted Notre Dame QB, Jimmy Clausen, the Panthers need Smith at training camp in order to develop chemistry. The Panthers already lack in depth at receiver, so Smith will be deeply missed at the start of training camp.
Carolina still has the explosive duo of Jonathan Stewart and DeAngelo Williams running the ball, but you can’t be one-dimensional in this league. The NFL has evolved since created and a majority of the teams in the league primary option is air rather than ground. Even though the Panthers were a run first team, Smith still added that diversion factor. Smith is a stud receiver, so I’m not going to doubt what his performance will be, but it doesn’t look too good so far. Hopefully, the Panthers will be able to improve from a .500 season last year.

Heart of a champion

When looking at superstars in the NBA, there are many of them that work hard night in and out, but how many of them actually dedicate their whole lives to the game? Who Eats, Sleeps, and Breathes Basketball? There are only a handful of them and at the top of that list is the 2010 NBA Finals MVP, Kobe Bryant. Regardless of what analysts and spectators think, Kobe Bryant is the best basketball player in our league, NOT Lebron James.
During the regular season, everyone looks at the Cleveland Cavaliers’ success and is kick to jump on the bandwagon because they “appear” to be the best team because of their record. Then when the playoffs start, these same people are the critics who say that Lebron has no supporting cast and the whole team is an Achilles heel. Throughout all this Kobe is calm, cool, and collected and disregards all the hype because he knows the regular season means nothing when compared to the playoffs. Lebron’s stats will always be eye-popping in the regular season, but if he doesn’t get a ring, his career will never be complete. He still has a lot of time being only 25 years old and already one of the faces of the league.
Winning his 5th ring and 2nd Finals MVP has definitely taken a lot of pressure off of Kobe who has a big burden on his back ever since Shaquille O’neal left the Lakers. Winning back-to-back championships without the Big Aristotle has quieted those who didn’t think that Kobe could win without him. Kobe loves to prove haters wrong and really does feed off of people who think he can’t do something. His passion to be the best doesn’t stop and that’s what makes him one of the best all-time.
Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers not only earned the 2010 NBA Championship, but deserved it. At the end of the day, they won and that’s all that matters. When tested, they passed and when someone tried to stop them, they kept moving. The 2011-2012 NBA season will definitely be exciting with all the free agency acquisitions that have yet to be determined and the in coming rookie class (Blake Griffin is still a rookie). In the end, no matter what moves are mad in the off-season, The Los Angles Lakers are still the Champions. Until someone takes that from them, they will look to three-peat and solidify themselves as a Dynasty.

I just wanted to thank all my followers and fans that have supported my blog so far. As you can see, there have been some recent changes, but I think the new display fits the blog better. This blog wont be a short term thing as I'll continue to write daily, so please check the website frequently if you can. Enjoy and please don't forget to comment. Thank you again and have a good day!

Upcoming blogs: Lebron's Free Agency, John Walls, and Kobe vs. Jordan.

P.S. Did anyone see how depressed Terrell Owens looked last night at the NBA Finals Game 7. Maybe he won't get signed. O well, life's tough, wear a helmet.

More than just a Game 7

It doesn’t get any better than this: Game 7, Winner takes all, Bragging RIGHTS, Green or Gold, Who’s your pick?! Will Kobe Bryant get his 5th ring and establish him self as the greatest ever in the game or will he still remain in Michael Jordan’s shadow? Will the Big 3 still be playing together after this year or will Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen retire while on top if they win? The only thing we will know for sure after tonight is who will host the trophy as the 2010 NBA Champion.
Despite the devastating loss of Kendrick Perkins, the Boston Celtics should have nothing to fear. Besides Game 6, the Celtics have played mediocre throughout this series and still were close to winning each game. The Los Angeles Lakers put the dagger in them in Game 6, but other than this game, the Lakers’ wins haven’t been convincing. Candidly, I think that neither team has reached their full potential this series, especially Boston. The Lakers played a flawless game in Game 6 and the score showed this, but I would like to see one game when both teams are both at their best. This series has been a joy to watch, but I expected so much more. Many thought maybe this historic rivalry could be renewed, guess we were wrong.
I understand that some of the Boston players are old, but I’ve seen them play much better through these playoffs. Maybe they sabotaged this whole series to win in Game 7 in L.A. on purpose? Maybe, lol? Whichever describes their funk, they need to play like they did against Cleveland and Orlando. Then maybe, they can be successful in obtaining a championship.
As for Kobe and the Lakers, his teammates need to play like Game 6. Kobe has made tough shots every game and won’t stop; he eats, breathes, and sleeps this type of pressure. He accepts all challenges thrown at him and oooo, does he answer! Regardless of Kobe’s performance tonight, Gasol, Odom, Artest, Fisher, and the rest of the team will be key. Kobe can’t do it by himself, he needs players not spectators.
Tip off begins in a couple of hours and I don’t know who’s going to show up. Maybe Rondo will actually shoot some jump shots and lead Bean town to a win. Maybe Kobe will put up 50 and put the team on his back. I guess we’ll have to wait until 9. Big Stage, Big Lights, Millions watching, but there can only be 1 Champion!
