King James goes to Wade County

Now that this long spectacle is over on where Lebron James will go, everyone will question him if his new home, South Beach, was the best move? The Miami Heat may have landed the top 3 free agents in 2010, but in order for them to be successful during the 2010-11 season and near future, they will need more than that. The Heat have still yet to fill out their 12-man roster, so there are many concerns on how good they’ll be and what their expectations are if they’re not able to obtain some decent bench players. There are still a lot of players out their under the radar who can fill in as good role players, so I have no doubt that President, Pat Riley, will sign the key components needed to bring South Beach a championship.
If Lebron James thought he had the cameras on him before, wait until this upcoming season begins. From the feeling of betrayal by Cleveland Cavaliers owner, Dan Gilbert, and fans to the expectations to win a championship with two great superstars by his side, Lebron James will get uncontrollable media attention. The bar has been raised regardless of who else Miami Heat signs. Lebron, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh need to send out a message from Day 1. That means it starts now in the off season, not during their first regular season game. Any signs of collapse or bust from the new Big 3 will be the green light for journalists, analysts, and the media to scorn them. I don’t know how much “King” James will be able to take because it will definitely get nasty and Lebron has always be portrayed as savior to the media.
Ultimately, this was Lebron James choice and it’s actually extremely disturbing that owner, Dan Gilbert, would come out with a rude and absurd email expressing his feelings towards his former “Chosen 1”. He wouldn’t have said this if he chose Ohio. You can call it betrayal or disloyalty, but in the end, this is the Cavalier’s fault. Besides the hiring of Bryon Scott, what have you done to lure the poster boy of the league back to his hometown? Nothing! How do you expect a man that wants to win so badly and will do anything for it not to leave an organization that has surrounded him by mediocre players if that. Lebron could have stayed and finished the fairy tale story with a ring, but that wouldn’t be guaranteed. James has so much pressure on him and knows that he doesn’t want to miss any opportunities to be surrounded by talent that can elevate him to the next level.
The Cavaliers team is decent, so don’t get me wrong, but they're not championship worthy. The regular season predicts only home court advantage and seeding, nothing else. The Cav’s regular season record may be eye popping, but in the playoffs it’s a whole new story!
Whichever team LBJ chose was going to bring out critics; it was a lose-lose situation. Nets had the worst record in the league last year, why would he go there? Chicago has a good team, but now he would have to win 6 rings and would be in Michael Jordan’s shadow forever. Cleveland’s team is still the same from last year with one minor change. The Knicks haven’t won a championship since’73 and their supporting cast isn’t the best; Lebron and Ama’re can’t do it all!
Miami may be the easy route and may minimize his legacy away from Jordan and Kobe, but we all know what this man is capable of and he still will enter the ranks of the greatest. Some of the best in the NBA players haven’t won a ring (Patrick Ewing, Pistol Pete, Karl Malone, George Gervin, Elgin Baylor, etc). No NBA superstar should want to be added to this list, especially a Lebron.
Eventually, we’ll see who Riley has chosen to surround this so called “Dream Team” with a decent amount of cap room left. Miami is close to signing Mike Miller who would be a great addition to the team with his shooting. Miami may have three great superstars, but they’re still not the favorite in the Eastern Conference. On another note, did Shaq ever sell his house in Miami? Hmmmm…
