West heading South

After recently being waived from the Minnesota Timberwolves, Delonte West has now been suspended without pay for 10 days after pleading guilty to a weapons charge last month. West's weapon charge took place last September in Maryland while speeding a motorcycle with the possession of a loaded shotgun and an 8½-inch Bowie knife. If Delonte signs with a team this season, his suspension would be instant with the first game of the regular season.
Delonte's career seems to be on the downhill with this recent suspension as well as the rumor of having relations with Lebron James mother, Gloria. Remind you that he's also currently jobless!

600 Club

At the age of 35, Alex Rodriguez became the youngest player in MLB history to join the 600 homerun club in a 5-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays. Ironically, Rodriguez did it exactly three years to the day he hit his 500th homerun. Alex now joins the six other players to reach this milestone and currently sits 7th on the all-time homerun list.
Even though Alex had the longest streak between his 599th and 600th homer among the homerun kings, he’s relieved that it’s out the way so he can focus on more important things. The milestone hopefully will provide a spark for the Yankees, who moved back into a first-place tie with Tampa Bay Rays in the AL East. Rodriguez only has 163 more to go if he wants to be the king of all sluggers.

Player Homeruns
Barry Bonds 762
Henry Aaron 755
Babe Ruth 714
Willie Mays 660
Ken Griffey Jr. 630
Sammy Sosa 609
Alex Rodriguez 600

The Diesel still has gas

According to ESPN sources, Shaquille O’neal is close to signing a deal with the Boston Celtics. This would be a great acquisition for the front line of the Celtics who were also able to acquire Jermaine O’Neal during this off season. Shaq may not be as dominant in the paint as he used to be, but his size will help the Celtics defend the basket and rebound against players such as Dwight Howard and Andrew Bynum. This would also lighten up the load off of Kendrick Perkins back who is probably the best post-defender in the league.
The Celtics are still in it to win it and are making all the right moves to win the championship after falling short last year to the Los Angeles Lakers. Don't be so quick to jump on South Beach bandwagon with their new superstar trio! The Celtics are still the defending Eastern Conference Champions and are better than last year if able to sign the "Big Aristotle" along with their other new additions. Not taking credit away from the 2010 NBA Champions, but if Perkins wasn’t injured, there may have been a celebration in Beantown instead of LA.
The Eastern Conference has drastically improved since last year with players such as Carlos Boozer and Amar’e Stoudemire leaving the West. I still don’t think the East is as competitive as the West, but East is now a lot more balanced and exciting to watch.

No Love for Cleveland

It was bad enough that Lebron James decided to leave Cleveland to go to South Beach to join Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh on national television, but now he doesn’t even mention the city where he played basketball for seven years in a full-page ad in his hometown paper. James’ ad thanks the people of Akron for their support for 25 years, but fails to even slightly mention where he started his professional career. Coincidentally, this ad came out two days after his former Cavaliers and now Miami Heat teammate, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, took out an ad in the Plain Dealer thanking Cavaliers fans for their support over the years.
King James leaving Cleveland empty handed in the paper could be looked at as both classless and childish and even justified with owner, Dan Gilbert’s haughty comments. Honestly though, I don’t think Cleveland fans will ever be able to forgive their once beloved “Chosen One.” The damage has already been done and thank you note in an ad wouldn’t minimize the fact that he will no longer be playing in Ohio. Most of Cleveland hates this man because they he feel quit on them and him not mentioning them in the ad is just adding fuel to the fire.
I just can’t wait to see when Lebron visits Cleveland during the regular season. This game will be brutal and I think that David Stern should highly consider hiring extra security for this game. Lebron was everything to this city and now they despise him with nothing, but disgust filled in their veins and blood.

Chris Johnson aiming for the top

Becoming just the 6th running back in NFL history to reach the 2,000 yard mark was just a minor accomplishment for Tennessee Titans running back, Chris Johnson. Johnson has eyes set on a higher goal which is Eric Dickerson's record of 2,105 yards rushing in a single season. If able to break the record, Chris wouldn’t just hold the single season rushing record, but be the first running back to rush over 2,000 yards more than once. Neither Barry Sanders, O.J. Simpson, Terrell Davis, Jamal Lewis, or Dickerson could do it, but this doesn’t phase the ambitious 3rd year running back.
Besides from accomplishing so much in two years, Johnson still feels that he has something to prove. Not receiving a vote for MVP was unfathomable to him, even though he was selected as The Associated Press' 2009 NFL Offensive Player of the Year. He also feels that he’s without a doubt the best running back in the league, hands down! He doesn’t want there to be a split decision between him and Adrian Peterson; it should be unanimous.
It would be amazing for Chris Johnson not only to break Dickerson’s record, but to rush for over 2,000 yards in consecutive seasons. Barry Sanders came the closest when he rushed for 1,491 yards the next season.
Johnson isn’t complacent with his success which shows his work ethic to become the best. His personal success is nothing compared to his final goal of winning a Superbowl and holding the Vince Lombardi trophy.

Big Baby shows off his dance skills

Just when I though I seen it all from Glen "Big Baby" Davis, he proved me wrong once again! We've seen him cry on the bench when being yelled at by Kevin Garnet, knock over a kid after a buzzer beater against Orlando, and even drool during the recent NBA Finals Game 4, but this has to be Number 1 memory of him. I don't what he was thinking when he recorded this! Coonery???

Revis holdsout

One of the NFL’s top teams started training camp without their best player today. NY Jets cornerback, Darrelle Revis, is holding out while locked in a contract dispute. Revis is set to make $1 million in the fourth year of his six-year rookie deal, making him one of the lowest-paid defensive backs on the team this season. Revis feels he deserves much more being not only the best player on his team, but the arguably best cornerback in the league. He single handily shutdown top premier receivers of this league and finished second in NFL Defensive Player of the Year voting.
There could be a lot of reasons for Revis holding out from the Jets promising him that his contract situation would be taken care of by training camp to wanting to be the NFL's highest-paid cornerback, a distinction that belongs to Oakland's Nnamdi Asomugha, who signed a three-year, $45.3 million extension last offseason. On top of this, this coach, Rex Ryan, told him he should be the league's highest-paid cornerback, so can you blame the man?
Revis obviously feels he’s doing what needs to be done as he’ll be getting finned $16,523 for each day of his holdout. This isn’t the best way for the Jets to start off who have high expectations surrounded around their organization being ranked in top 5 preseason rankings. I don’t know how long Darrelle plans to hold out, but one thing is for sure is that the Jets’ defense needs him in order to excel!

Slow down Rookie

Here's a video of NBA Rookie of the Year, Tyreke Evans, arrested at gunpoint during Memorial weekend for driving over 120 mph. Attorneys stated that he pleaded no contest to reckless driving, was given 80 hours of community service, ordered to take part in teen driving programs and lost his license for 30 days.
